Sustainability

We design for reality, not theory. Real sustainability isn’t a buzzword; it’s a system. That’s why we use PHA(Polyhydroxyalkanoates), build reusable solutions, and back it all with carbon insetting data that proves measurable impact. We make it easy for your brand, venue, or organisation to exit plastic without compromise.

Core Principles

  • Eliminate plastic waste, not just single-use.
  • Choose honest materials with transparent end-of-life.
  • Keep every claim-certified, compliant, and audit-ready.
  • Combine compostables + reusables for true circularity.
  • Measure impact through insetting, not offsets.

Sustainability isn’t a claim. It’s a chain. From design to disposal, we track, trace, and prove every step.

01.

The NOPE Material Standard

PHA first. PLA only where it makes sense with clear guidance. NOPE PHA is biobased, 100% biodegradable and home-compostable. It breaks down in soil, rivers, and oceans with no microplastics, no toxins. We specify food-safe materials, inks, and manufacturing partners who design for the real world, not lab conditions.

What this means for you

  • Taste-neutral, alcohol safe, heat-resistant materials.
  • Simple disposal: “Compost at home or dispose in a regular bin. NOPE products break down completely in landfill.”
  • Fewer compliance headaches, faster internal sign-off, and cleaner waste systems.

02.

Reuse, Reduce, Replace

We pair PHA compostables with premium NOPE reusables (flasks, bottles, and merch) to cut waste even further.

  • Use reusables for loyalty programs, brand merch, and daily operations.
  • Use PHA where disposables are operationally essential.
  • Together, they form a seamless, zero-plastic system.

You don’t have to choose between convenience and conscience.

03.

Lifecycle (From Use to Soil)

Use → Collect → Compost → Regenerate.

  • Use at venues, retail sites, campuses, or hospitals.
  • Dispose through standard waste channels as PHA behaves like organic matter, safely breaking down naturally in soil, compost, or mixed waste environments.
  • Where home or food waste composting is available, compost locally for best results of full biodegrading typically occurs within 6-12 months.
  • If PHA enters landfill, it will still biodegrade naturally over time without releasing microplastics, methane spikes, or toxins. Unlike traditional plastics that can persist for centuries, NOPE PHA continues breaking down slowly even in low-oxygen landfill settings, completing its cycle.

04.

WHY NOT PAPER, PLA, WOOD OR BAMBOO?

Most “eco” alternatives still fail in the real world.

Paper relies on plastic linings that contaminate recycling.

PLA needs industrial composting. The UK lacks reliable infrastructure.

Wood and bamboo carry heavy carbon footprints from deforestation, transport, and processing – and often require synthetic coatings to stay food-safe.

These materials sound good on paper but they don’t break down safely, can’t handle moisture or heat, and often end up in landfill or incineration like everything else.

05.

Waste-Stream Clarity

We make implementation idiot-proof:

  • Bin artwork for front and back of house.
  • One-line staff training script.
  • Compliance checklist for GMs and procurement.
  • Visitor prompts for menus, events, and retail touchpoints.

Goal: high capture, low contamination, simple SOPs.

We don’t just sell compostable. We make compostable work.

06.

CARBON INSETTING – MEASURE WHAT MATTERS

Offsets pay someone to fix your emissions. Insetting cuts them in your own supply chain.

Switching to NOPE PHA or NOPE Reusables reduces Scope 3 emissions at source with fewer waste hauls, lower manufacturing CO2, and circular end-of-life.

We’re building the first NOPE Impact Tracker, mapping:

  • Plastic eliminated (kg)
  • CO2e saved per SKU
  • Compost and reuse metrics per partner

This data feeds directly into your ESG or sustainability reports that prove, not promises.

No offsets. No Loopholes. Real reductions.

/ FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (Sustainability)

Get quick, plain-English answers to your sustainability questions on how PHA behaves in nature, home composting, certifications, contamination control at events, hot/alcoholic drinks, and pairing with reusables, so you can roll out with confidence.

Is PHA safe if it escapes into nature?
Yes. PHA biodegrades in soil and marine environments without toxic residues.
Can visitors home compost your products?
Yes. We provide a simple disposal script and icons for clear guidance.
Do you have proof of compostability and food contact?
Yes. certificates and declarations are available on request.
How do you prevent contamination at events?
Bin artwork, staff scripts, and quick briefing cards reduce errors.
What about hot drinks and alcohol?
Our PHA is event grade, taste-neutral, and alcohol-safe.
Can we mix PHA with our reusable strategy?
Absolutely. We design hybrid rollouts to reduce total waste.
